I'm not too sure what these flowers are called, perhaps my fellow Aussie countrymen / countrywomen can help me out. These gorgeous plants were sighted as we were driving around the Cairns country side area North Queensland, Australia. Some part of colour theory says that the cones and rods in our eyes are stimulated by complementary colours. Although more pink than red, I've tried to bring out the reds in these mysterious plants and to attack the grass with a splash of green. To do this I brought the photo in Lightroom and changed up the Hues of the Greens and Reds as well as their vibrance. The blue was also enhanced for that ocean blue sky, and the shadows, highlight, blacks and whites adjusted so as to balance out the scene. Although luminosity masking, digital blending and HDR techniques could have been used to better recover some part of the dynamic range, when you're on holiday shoot like a tourist with a photographer's mindset and enjoy yourself!
