Finally had to replace the factory stereo. A part the size of nickel was failing and it became hard to control the volume. One morning, I tried to turn it down at a stop light and went from "This is Spinal Tap" to "Harrier GR9 jump jet emergency takeoff." (I didn't know a car stereo could get THAT loud). Short story long, I found no one in town that was willing to try to fix it, so I had to replace it with something from Fry's Electronics. End result: US-China trade imbalance increases by $125; 1.5 Kg e-waste; 0.5 kg recycling; 4 hours of weekend lost forever; 2 owies, one of which still hurts. 'Least I've got tunes again.
