These small rocks and footbridge are the official starting point for the River Forth in Scotland, which runs from here (Milton near Aberfoyle in the Trossachs) to eventually form the Forth estuary several miles wide, crossed by the famous Forth Rail Bridge and road bridges. Until this point the water forms part of Loch Ard, running from the main part of the loch to here, the Milton Narrows, before tumbling gently over the rocks to start its journey to the sea.
