I spotted this hawk on a trail walk through Hawthorne Park, Surrey, very near my home. It's great to have green space close by; I get some exercise, explore and find wonderful surprises like this once in a while. I don't think I had ever seen of these birds, and luckily it perched on the tree there for me to take some photos. I think there were around three of them in the area, judging by the calls I could hear from different directions. Perhaps a family? I think this guy or gal is a Cooper's Hawk, and the takeoff was brilliant.
